SpokesPet Photo Contest

Photo Contests have been around for some time and HHP would like to help you make the most of your contest by having the winner get more exposure.  People take great pride in their pets and are delighted to share their pet photos with others.

We want to help boost your contest by creating a special animated video of the winning pet.  This gives your rescue the opportunity to tell others about what you do and help educate about rescue.  Click Here to have a look at the 2007 SpokesDog for Boston Terrier Club of Canada Rescue (BTCCR).  Click Here to see a sample of the voting page and the photos that BTCCR received for their contest.

Here's how it work

1) You let people know about your contest and request that they make a donation to your rescue to enter the contest.  If you want the winner to be your SpokesDog, SpokesCat, SpokesBunny then let them know.

2) It's best if only 1 photo per pet is submitted to the contest.

3) The photos should be sent to you in High Resolution.  At least, 1024 X 768 Pixels.  If the photo is really good, you may want to use it for a large poster and the resolution would have to be very high for that.

4) If someone in your group can size the photos sent in to approximately 150 X 150 pixels, then the photos will work best for the judging page.  If you can't do this, then we will take care of this for you.

5) Be sure that you include in your rules a release that allows the pictures to be used.  Such as:

By submitting your photos to this contest you are giving consent to Your Rescue Name and Helping Homeless Pets to use the photos on their websites, promotional materials, T- Shirts, Videos and any other medium to promote and support animal welfare. The photos will not be used or sold for commercial gain.

6) Once you have received all your entries, send them to us and we will create a page to accept votes.  The contest works best if you allow the public to pick the top 5 and then you have a panel of judges that chooses the winner.  After the judging is closed we will provide you with results and you can announce the winner.  Click Here to see a sample of how BTCCR announced their winners.

Animating the Winner

If you wish to have your winner animated, then you need to supply us with the script of what your SpokesPet will say.  Or better still, have someone you know, record the script themselves in a WAV file and send that to us. 

Screensaver

We would also like to create a screensaver of all the photos entered in the contest.  This is an extra bonus to those who have entered and will help promote your rescue even more.
